Mercer University Student Arrested for Threatening a Professor

-

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Thursday announced the arrest of a former Mercer University student for threatening a university professor.

The bureau arrested 28 year-year-old Anshu Patre over charges of stalking, terroristic threats and acts, and harassing communications.

On December 26, the university police department sought bureau’s help in an investigation which led to the arrest of Patre who graduated from the university six years ago. He was booked at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center in Macon.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Patre was a former student at Mercer and had graduated approximately 6 years ago.  Recently, he began sending threatening emails to one of his former Professors,” Bureau of Investigation statement said.

“The GBI located Patre at a residence in Griffin, GA where he lived with his parents.  A search warrant was executed on the residence and Patre was taken into custody without incident.”

The bureau is further investigating the case and will hand it over to the district attorney after completion.
