California Northstate University has unveiled its plans to construct a 250-bed teaching hospital medical center starting in 2019.
The university made the announcement to build the hospital close to its Elk Grove campus, and the plans have already been submitted to the city officials.
The California Northstate University Medical Center is expected to create 24,000 new jobs over a course of next 10 years providing city residents with specialized medical care to level II trauma care, acute and comprehensive medical care, and physician training.
“California Northstate University Medical Center hospital will serve the critical medical needs of the Elk Grove community and Sacramento region with the highest quality care,” university President Alvin Cheung said.
“It will have a profound and lasting impact on our community, giving patients easy access to care, while creating jobs, improving public safety and reducing the traffic that has become a central issue in Elk Grove.”
The hospital, designed by Fong & Chan Architects of San Francisco, is supposed to be completed by 2022.
