Florida State University has announced the creation of the nation’s first college dedicated exclusively to entrepreneurship, the school announced on Friday.
The new renamed Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship approved by a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees was established through a $100 million gift made by Jan Moran and The Jim Moran Foundation in 2015.
Currently, the college has 25 faculty members, 11 staff members and 760 students on rolls.
“Entrepreneurship is one of Florida State’s strategic goals and having the nation’s first stand-alone college of entrepreneurship signals our strong commitment to that goal,” Sally McRorie, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs said.
The college offers commercial, social and retail entrepreneurship programs at the undergraduate level and a Master of Science degree program in Retail Entrepreneurship with a major in Textiles and Apparel Entrepreneurship.
