Indiana University is starting an initiative to teach people about the geography, economics, history, government, and people of Indiana.
The university has roped in Center on Representative Government to develop , a free digital interactive app, to reach out to people interested in Indiana’s history and culture.
The app, developed in response to Senate Enrolled Act 29 passed in 2017, will be made a fun resource for Indiana high school students who will get to know about the Indiana State Library, Indiana Historical Society, Library of Congress, and other institutions.
“Learning and understanding how our state evolved essential to engage civic participation and community service,” said Mike Sample, IU vice president for government relations.
“The Center on Representative Government is honored the IU Office of the Bicentennial selected to partner with us to develop this interactive tool that will be available for free to all of Indiana’s teachers, who play a critical role in developing informed citizens.”
The university is presently coordinating with more than 25 different organizations to choose the subjects which showcaseIndiana’s history and culture in the best way.
The app is expected to debut in the fall of 2019.
