One Lincoln University student was killed and two others were injured after a deadly stabbing on its Pennsylvania campus Wednesday.

The incident occurred at 9.30 PM inside one of the student dorms. One victim, identified by family as Jawine Evans, 21, was pronounced dead on the scene. Two others were rushed to a Delaware hospital for treatment.

Law enforcement officials say the violence at Lincoln, a historically Black university, is an isolated incident. There is no danger to the community.

The university is working with local authorities to investigate the incident. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” Lincoln added.

‘Heartbreaking’

CBS Philadelphia obtained video footage of the dorm fight that is believed to have led to the stabbings. The video shows several people involved in a brawl inside a dorm. Someone can be heard saying, “He stabbed me.”

Erica Dickerson, the mother of one of the injured students, told Black Enterprise that her son, a Lincoln senior, was stabbed in the back, side, and arm by a woman — supposedly the mother of another student.

Other sources report that the woman was carrying a knife and had turned up on campus to back one of the students involved in the altercation. However, this has not been confirmed by the police.

Dickerson said she was devastated and spent the night consoling her son, who witnessed the murder of his friend. “This is really heartbreaking. He’s gone. I loved that boy,” she said.

The Student Government Association at Lincoln held a vigil on Thursday in honor of the victims of Wednesday’s incident.

“We’re all devastated that this happened and what hurt us the most is that this all could have been prevented,” one of the participants said.
