The San Diego State University (SDSU) is opening new degree and certificate programs as the number of applications sent to the school for the fall 2021 semester continues to rise.

The university revealed that more than 103,000 students have already applied, prompting the school to introduce new courses either online or in-person.

SDSU has opened new bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in economics, child development, civil engineering, and American-Indian studies. It has also recently launched a new graduate program in teacher leadership, as well as a new online bachelor’s degree in communication.

“Our strategic plan is both a commitment and a promise,” SDSU President Adela de la Torre said. “It identifies our strengths: that we provide world-class education and experience, that we have one of the highest graduation performance rates in the country, and that our diversity is core to who we are.”

“It also commits us to grow, and to drive the creation of new academic programs our global workforce demands… High-touch experiences with clear workforce outcomes is a clear priority for us, and is one of the primary reasons why so many students take interest in SDSU,” she added.

Last year, SDSU announced a partnership with two community colleges to help students attain an SDSU degree without having to set foot on campus.

Through the partnership, the school will be introducing a hybrid bachelor’s degree completion program in child development when in-person instruction recommences this fall.
