In a bizarre coincidence, two college students at Liberty University in Virginia who met on a bus discovered that they had lived together in a Chinese orphanage 15 years before.

Second-year student Ally Cole sat next to freshman Ruby Wierzbicki while they were on their way to school on April 14. Cole struck up a conversation with Wierzbicki about schoolwork and the states they were both from.

Not long after, they began to talk in greater depth about their lives and began to notice many strikingly similar details. As more and more facts emerged, they realized that they had lived together at the same orphanage in China.

They were both amazed at the realization, ultimately pulling out photos from the Jinan Social Welfare Institute and seeing that they were there at the same time.

“We were quiet for a little bit because I think we were both just in shock,” Wierzbicki told CNN.

After getting off the bus, the two continued looking at old photos of their time together. They admitted that it took them some time to clearly understand what they had discovered.

“I think I was just in shock that I actually knew someone from my past,” Cole said. “I think it didn’t really hit me until after I went to class.”
