Case Western Reserve University Raises $1.8 Billion in Latest Campaign

Case Western Reserve University’s Forward Thinking capital campaign, which kicked off in 2011, has finally concluded, raising $1.82 billion in pledges and gifts.

When it was first announced, the university set a goal of raising $1 billion. In 2014, the goal was updated to $1.5 billion. In the last fiscal year alone, the university raised $208 million in fundraising.

“Our supporters recognized the longstanding strengths of Case Western Reserve, as well as the university’s increasingly positive trajectory under President Snyder’s leadership,” Capital Campaign Chair Frank N. Linsalata said. “Momentum first built gradually, and then increasingly accelerated as people saw the progress taking place on campus.”

Most of the contributions came from 46,000 alumni, 34,000 of which gave to the university for the very first time. The campaign also focused on raising funds for scholarship support, new construction and renovations.

“The generosity of alumni, friends and philanthropic organizations is both extraordinary and inspiring,” President Barbara R. Snyder said. “We are honored and humbled by this support, which already has made a significant positive impact on our university.”
