Political Science Professor and Republican state representative Matt Manweller has been fired by the Central Washington University over his inappropriate behavior with the students.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the university said the investigation into Manweller’s conduct has been completed and will be made available on August 27, in case a court order doesn’t prohibit its release.
Manweller has been accused of sexually harassing students since 2006. Last year, he was sent on paid leave by the school following resurfacing of allegations against him.
“Dr. Manweller has been afforded all of his due process rights under the faculty collective bargaining agreement,” the university statement said.
“The University deeply regrets that Dr. Manweller has chosen to make public statements minimizing, trivializing, even ridiculing, the female students who have come forward with legitimate concerns.”
Meanwhile, the terminated professor has threatened to file a lawsuit against the university and the investigators.
“Over nine months ago the University communicated to me that they were going to terminate my employment regardless of what the investigation revealed,” Manweller wrote. “Today, they made good on that threat.”
