To help students impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Denmark Technical College in South Carolina is offering a free tuition scholarship to the first 500 applicants who enroll for the fall semester.

The Denmark Technical College Tuition Relief Scholarship is open to full-time and part-time, local and out-of-state students. The school will fund the remaining tuition after students have used up other scholarships and grants.

The last-dollar scholarship will cancel the school’s $2,813 tuition for the fall semester. Returning students can also take advantage of the semester’s free tuition.

“This tuition assistance will provide access to education to students who, for many, have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and who otherwise may have had to forgo pursuing their educational and career goals,” Denmark Tech President Dr. Willie L. Todd Jr. said.

How to Apply

To apply for the tuition assistance scholarship, students must first submit the FAFSA. The school will declare whether the applicant is one of the first 500 students once the admissions are complete.

Denmark Tech will use state lottery funds, donations, and alumni scholarships to pay for the outstanding tuition, the school’s spokeswoman Amy Roper told The State.

President Todd believes tuition assistance is a “powerful prospect” and will encourage more students to apply. “We’re giving students the opportunity to set new goals and realize their potential to make an impact on the communities we serve despite the financial challenges that surround them,” he wrote.
