Governor Kathy Hochul and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have opened disaster recovery centers in New York in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

The new sites announced Thursday will provide information and assistance for residents affected by storms and flooding. Those affected can meet with recovery specialists from the agency and the US Small Business Administration to learn more about federal assistance for homeowners, renters, and business owners.

“New Yorkers who were impacted by last week’s devastating floods and storm damage can now receive in-person, one-on-one assistance with professionals equipped to assist in the recovery process,” Governor Hochul said

“I thank our partners in the federal government for working quickly to establish these necessary facilities as we continue to get New Yorkers the help they need,” she added.

The state of New York has chosen four colleges out of the six designated locations where the recovery centers will be located. Each center will be open every day from 8 am to 7 pm until further notice.

The centers in the Bronx, Richmond, Kings, Queens, and Westchester County were assigned for Individual Assistance under the major disaster declaration, while the locations in Yonkers, Mamaroneck, and Staten Island will temporarily operate in mobile centers before finding fixed locations.
