A Northwestern University journalism professor resigned on Friday, months after he was sent on leave amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Alec Klein, a faculty member at university’s Medill School of Journalism, was reported in February by former students and two former employees for inappropriate conduct following which he requested a leave of absence from all his positions.
A spokesman from the university told Suntimes that Klein is “no longer employed by Northwestern University, and will not be present on Northwestern’s campus or attend any University events.”
The university last month declined to make public the details of its internal investigation into the conduct of the professor.
“The University takes seriously all complaints that are brought to its attention and investigated those allegations promptly and thoroughly, following established University procedures,” reads the statement.
“Complaints to Northwestern’s Office of Equity are confidential in nature in order to protect the individuals involved. Therefore, Northwestern cannot confirm the details that have been made public regarding the investigation into the behavior of Professor Klein.”
The university also apologized to the students and employees who were the victims of professor’s abuse.
More than 30 women have accused Klein of sexual harassment and bullying, while he has denied all the allegations leveled against him.
