Wayne State University has announced a hike in tuition rates for its undergraduate and graduate student population.
The school’s Board of Governors, which met on Friday, approved a 3.2 percent increase in tuition rates for the 2019-2020 academic year. A corresponding 3.2 percent increase in financial aid was also approved to offset the tuition increase, bringing Wayne State’s annual institutionally funded financial aid to $81.7 million.
Last year the university increased tuition by 2.9 percent and financial aid by 7.1 percent.
The Governors also approved a master plan for campus development over the next 10 years. The plan was developed after a consultant team, hired by the university, came up with a comprehensive space utilization analysis and a number of organizing ideas and strategic goals that will guide the school in the future.
The Beyond Juice restaurant, which will be located on the first floor of the eleven-story Anthony Wayne Apartments center tower, was also approved for a 10-year lease by the Board of Governors.
Effective fall 2019, the university will also offer a new Bachelor of General Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
