Rice University Launches Online Master of Computer Science Program

-

Rice University has rolled out a new online Master of Computer Science degree program targeting professional and adult learners.

Beginning in the fall of 2019, the online degree, offered by Rice’s Department of Computer Science, will equip professionals with practical skills in machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber security and software engineering that are needed for career advancement in the tech world.

With small class sizes, the program has been designed to meet the needs of working professionals.

“We’re living in an increasingly technological society,” Reginald DesRoches, the William and Stephanie Sick Dean of Engineering, said. “As a result, computing education is essential in today’s world. This program will give you access to a wide variety of high-paying, meaningful jobs. It will accelerate your ability to advance.”

Professor Scott Rixner added that the new program will offer a greater level of engagement with student participants to provide an effective learning experience.

“There are other online computer science programs, but none I’ve encountered incorporates the level of personal interaction we are offering our students,” Rixer said.

Interested students can apply for the program now through June 15, 2019.
