Metallica Band to Train 1,000 Students to Enter American Workforce

-

Ten community colleges across the nation will receive $100,000 from All Within My Hands Foundation (AWMH) started by the heavy metal band Metallica to train and provide skills to students to enter the workforce.

The program that is being implemented in collaboration with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) will help the colleges in improving their career and technical education programs.

In its first phase, 1,000 Metallica Scholars will be trained to enter the American workforce in traditional trade or other applied learning programs.

“The goal of our Metallica Scholars Initiative is to improve career opportunities for community college students in the trades. Equally, we hope to raise the awareness of the tremendous importance, value and impact of the education provided by our nation’s community college system,” said Dr. Edward Frank, executive director of AWMH.

“The foundation and the band are thrilled by the quality of proposals we received from these colleges, and are excited to do our part to help educate students so that they have the skills and training necessary to find meaningful and well-paying jobs in their communities.”

The ten community colleges selected this year are Central Piedmont Community College, Clackamas Community College, College of Lake County, Community College of Baltimore County, Gateway Technical College, Grand Rapids Community College, Lone Star College, North Idaho College, Spokane Community College, and Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology.
