A chemistry professor at the University of Richmond has been awarded the 2019 Award for Research at an Undergraduate Institution by the American Chemical Society.
Carol Parish, who is an expert in theoretical and computational physical chemistry credited with publishing 40 research publications, won the award for her research, which is diverse by design and has a methodological, molecular-based approach as the unifying theme.
“This honor recognizes the best part of my job, which is mentoring undergraduates, training the next generation of scientists, and helping students achieve their post-UR hopes and dreams,” said Parish.
The highest honor for a professor at an undergraduate institution, the award recognizes the research of a chemistry faculty member which has helped in the professional development of students.
Earlier this year, Parish was awarded Outstanding Faculty Award by the State Higher Education Council and received a grant from National Science Foundation for her research on alternative energy sources.
She will be presented with the award during the annual ACS National Meeting in Orlando later this year.
