University of Florida Offers Best Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction

The University of Florida has been named the best college in the nation for anyone pursuing an online Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.

The list, released by OnlineCollegePlan.Com, ranked 30 institutions across the country that provide the best programs in Curriculum and Instruction for online learners. The website used factors like freshman retention, graduation rates, and affordability to score each school out of a possible 300 points.

The University of Florida’s online EdD program in Curriculum and Instruction which has a specialization in Teachers, Schools, and Society ranked first with 271 points. The program costs $21,131 total.

“The program was designed for practicing educators, and it is described as being job-embedded,” the ranking report reads. “This program is not intended for a research-intensive job; instead, this is focused on practice and affecting positive change in your own classrooms.”

The University of Virginia ranked second with a score of 266. Its Ph.D. program, costing $31,506 total, is offered on a full- and a part-time basis both on campus and online as well.

Texas A&M University’s Doctor of Education in Curriculum program ranked third, receiving 254 merit points. The curriculum includes 64 credit hours and takes about four years to complete.

“Earning a PhD is very demanding but these programs are designed to fit into to the lifestyle of a busy professional, especially those of you who are teachers,” website editors said in a release. “There are some on-campus intensives required but they are held during the summer when school is out.”

The other seven institutions that landed in the top 10, in order of rank, are the University of South Carolina, University at Buffalo, Texas Tech University, University of Wyoming, Northeastern University, Duquesne University and Boise State University.
