When it comes to offering online programs in music, Boston-based Berklee College of Music leads all other colleges across the country, according to a new ranking released by OnlineCollegePlan.Com.
The website ranked twenty best colleges across the country by using factors like the online offering, freshman retention rate, graduation rate, tuition, return on investment and student to faculty ratio.
Berklee ranked top for offering the only world-class music education available through an online platform. The colleges offer various undergraduate programs, including music business, songwriting, music production, guitar and music composition for movies, TV, and games.
“Personal attention, a prestigious education, and an affordable price leave little doubt that Berklee belongs at the top of the list as the best music college with online programs,” reads the report.
Another Boston-based music college, The New England Conservatory of Music, ranked second for various online courses. The college is well-known for its chamber music program, while Jacobs School of Music at the Indiana University ranked third for offering an online Master of Science in Music Therapy.
Other eight institutions that figured in 20 best online schools, in the order of rank, are Rowan University, Rutgers University, Colorado State University, West Virginia University, Boston University, University of Rochester and Manhattan School of Music.
