California Lutheran University Professor Wins Best Teaching Award

-

A California Lutheran University professor has won the 2019 Teaching Excellence Award for best exemplifying teaching excellence among university faculty in the Western United States.

Vlad Vaiman, the associate dean of Cal Lutheran’s School of Management, was announced as the recipient of the award by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP). The competition is open to faculty at its 1,100 member colleges in 60 countries.

Vaiman won the award among faculty at institutions granting bachelor’s and graduate degrees in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

“I have yet to see a course evaluation that does not rank Dr. Vaiman in the top percentile,” Gerhard Apfelthaler, dean of Cal Lutheran’s School of Management, said. “Students often praise him for his true interest in student learning, his entertaining and yet profound delivery, and his ability to be rigorous without creating stress for his students.”

Vaiman is a native of Russia and received his doctorate degree in international business from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He currently serves as a visiting professor at several universities around the world and is a popular corporate speaker. He has also published five books and more than 80 academic papers.

Vaiman will receive the award on June 23 at the 2019 ACBSP Conference in Houston.
