A University of Chicago professor has won the 2019 Fischer Black Prize for developing original research that is relevant to finance practice.
Professor Ralph Koijen, the AQR Capital Management Professor of Finance and Fama Faculty Fellow at the Booth School of Business received the award from the American Finance Association (AFA).
Established in 2002 to honor the late Fischer Black, a former partner at Goldman Sachs and professor of finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the prize is awarded to the person under 40 whose work best exemplifies Black’s hallmark of developing original financial research.
Koijen is currently the co-editor of the Review of Financial Studies, and his research focuses on asset pricing and macroeconomics, insurance markets, and financial econometrics.
