Between balancing school responsibilities and maintaining a personal life, exercise and nutrition can easily slip to the bottom of the priority list for college students. College is supposed to be a time where students experience great opportunities and learn valuable lessons, but these opportunities can slip away if they continue to neglect their health.

Neglecting your health could cause you to lose focus on your studies, build a great amount of stress, and feel unmotivated to complete any of your tasks. It is important for students to find a balance within their lives to make time for their academic responsibilities, personal life, nutrition, and exercise.

Here are a few tips on exercising and eating healthier in college

Nutrition for College Students

Eating healthy meals is an important part of staying healthy, and that can be very difficult as a college student. It seems easier to buy fast food after a long day of school, or eat junk food to help cope with stress. Constantly eating unhealthy options can cause you to feel sluggish or even affect your mood. Slowly exchanging the junk food for a healthier option can be extremely beneficial to students.

It’s important for students to eat healthier foods to help them stay productive, attentive, retain information, and have the ability to focus on their lectures.

Exercise in College

In addition to eating healthier options, students should fit some time to perform physical activity in their daily routine. Exercise can improve and support your mental and emotional well- being. According to the Anxiety and Depressive Society of America, physical activity can help students reduce the amount of stress they face on a daily basis.

If you create a workout schedule that is consistent, you will most likely stick to it, and it will be apart of your daily routine. Also, exercising first thing in the morning can help you feel refreshed for the rest of the day.

Types of Exercise

If students can’t afford a gym membership or make it to their on-campus gyms, fortunately, you can complete in-home workouts. Below are a list of exercises that work as many muscles in the body as possible:
