Newberry College Announces Tuition Freeze for Next Four Years

-

South Carolina-based Newberry College is freezing its tuition price for incoming freshmen and transfer students for the next four years.

On Monday, the college approved and announced its Tuition Promise program which aims to help families manage college costs and to increase college accessibility and affordability.

“Our goal is to ensure that families have a financial aid plan that will enable the students to focus on their studies and not worry about finding money for next semester,” Christopher Harris, dean of enrollment management, said.

“Our Tuition Promise makes the cost of attending Newberry transparent and accessible for those seeking an outstanding education.”

According to school officials, most full-time students who are currently enrolled receive institutional financial aid of nearly $27,000 in the form of a grants or scholarships to cover various costs. This academic year, more than $17 million was awarded to students in these forms of institutional aid.

“While there are many variables affecting student retention, we firmly believe that affordability should not be among them,” Dr. Sid Parrish, interim vice president for Academic Affairs, said.

“The Tuition Promise is an important tool in ensuring students are able to remain focused on their academic goals and not on worries about paying for college,” Parrish added.
