8 University of Rochester Professors win CAREER Award

Eight Professors from University of Rochester have won the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) awards.

The awards which are given in recognition of junior faculty members by National Science Foundation, will help the recipients further their research projects.

Earlier, the university had received three CAREER awards, but this is the largest number of awards in one year.

Under the awards, the recipient faculty members are provided with funding for five years to help lay the foundation for future research.

“This is a measure of quality with respect to the young faculty we are recruiting here at the University of Rochester,” Rob Clark, University provost and senior vice president for research said.

“This highly competitive program serves to launch the careers of young researchers, and with eight awards this year, we are at an all-time high.”

The recipients of this year’s awards are: Jennifer Brisson, associate professor of biology, Samantha Daley, assistant professor of education, Ehsan Hoque, assistant professor of computer science and the Asaro-Biggar, Gonzalo Mateos, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, Patrick Oakes, assistant professor of physics and biology, Krishnan Padmanabhan, assistant professor of neuroscience, Dustin Trail, assistant professor of earth and environmental sciences, Andrew White, assistant professor of chemical engineering.
