A New York-based non-profit has announced setting up of a University Scholarship Fund to help disadvantaged and underrepresented students have access to affordable education.
A Little Hope Foundation led by Louis Hernandez Jr. announced the scholarship to help desirous students with financial constraints.
The foundation provides annual financial support based on university selection and financial need of the student. Scholarship amounts range from $2,500 to $10,000.
“Our goal at a Little Hope Foundation is to provide an equal opportunity for all children to have the tools and capabilities to fulfill their life goals and to be constructive members of our global community,” Hernandez said.
“We believe their aspirations should be limited to their own imagination of what is possible, their effort and commitment, and desire to contribute. It’s our experience that post-secondary education is key to their future employment and their future well-being,” he added.
The foundation gives more preference to the underrepresented minority students who are involved in community-related works and have high academic performance.
Applications for the scholarship are accepted round the year.
