A Syracuse University student has pleaded guilty to child porn charges that will put him in jail for two years.
BingDong Gu, a 27-year-old graduate student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, has admitted to the charges, which included possession of five videos in November 2017, and uploading three in March last year.
In a County Court, Prosecutor Michael Whalen had pitched for a three-year jail term, but Judge Stephen Dougherty agreed to two years.
According to The Syracuse, Gu has been charged with three counts of possessing child porn and three counts of promoting sexual content containing children.
In November, the New York State Police accused Gu of promoting inappropriate videos and pictures of children below 10 engaging in sexual acts.
Meanwhile, the accused is out on bail till January 3.
