Corban University Announces Tuition Freeze for Next Academic Year

-

Corban University has rolled out its plans to not increase tuition for students during the 2019-2020 academic year.

The university made the announcement on Wednesday after a year-long re-engineering of its budget and putting itself on sound financial footing.

Students will pay the previous fee of $32,380 per year with a 2 percent rise in boarding cost, while the scholarship levels will remain the same as before.

“It is our mission to serve our students to the best of our ability,” university president, Dr. Sheldon C. Nord said“And this tuition freeze will help ensure that a degree from Corban, one of Oregon’s premier Christian universities, remains attainable for students and their families. This freeze represents Corban’s ongoing commitment to minimize student loan debt and ensure that quality education remains affordable for our students.”

Top administrators will see a reduction in their salaries, including the reduction in overhead expenses as a result of the student-focused budget.

“Balancing the needs of students and their families with the needs of our University community requires all parties to give some,” Nord said. “This budget outlines a path forward that can have a win-win outcome.”

The university has also decided to increase student fees slightly to provide more opportunities to its students in term of jobs, internships, and skills enhancement, and will fund student programs, such as Chapel and counseling services.
