Ohio State Starts New Office of Student Academic Success

-

The Ohio State University is opening a new office to support its students academically with various opportunities and tools.

The Office of Student Academic Success (OSAS) which will be led by Beth Hume, vice provost of student academic success, has been formed after 21 preexisting offices were merged into 10 units dedicated to enrollment services and undergraduate education.

Some of the goals of the new office are to improve graduation and retention rates and enrich the experience of undergraduate students. The office also aims to reduce student debt, increase affordability and increase representation of underserved populations.

“We worked with an organizational design expert and focused on streamlining the reporting structure, enhancing alignment with the university’s strategic goals and leveraging synergies to better serve students, faculty, and staff,” Hume said.

“The guiding principle has been to first do what’s right for the student, then make it work for Ohio State.”

Enrolled students will also see improvements in the delivery of reliable resources and high-quality tools required for overall academic success.
