Student Accuses Stockton University Counselor’s Son of Rape

-

Stockton University student has filed a lawsuit against the school accusing the counselor’s son of rape and assault.

The lawsuit, filed by the student in U.S. District Court in Camden on Sunday, says Jesse Matsinger, the son of Kathy Matsinger, the assistant director of counseling services at the university, raped her off-campus following a party in June 2017.

The victim student had first met Matsinger in 2015 and had sought counseling from his mother for her suicidal thoughts following a sexual encounter with another Stockton student in 2016.

After the alleged rape, the student reported the incident to the school. The officials at school didn’t provide her an advocate to defend herself violating her Title IX rights and portrayed wrong information to investigators affecting her credibility, the suit claims.

The school’s investigation had exonerated Matsinger of rape charges prompting the victim student to approach the court.

Last month, four students from Stockton filed lawsuits against the university and the controversial Pi Kappa Phi fraternity over alleged sexual assaults. The lawsuits accused the university of turning a blind eye to the conduct of the fraternity thus violating the women’s right to a safe learning environment.
